Sanjaka was born in Sri Lanka, where he attended Royal College prior to arriving in the U.S. in 2001. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. He is currently a part-time Ph.D. Candidate at IIT, where has served as the Lab Manager of the Power Electronics and Motor Drives Laboratory. Sanj is the recipient of numerous awards including the Grand Prize Award for M.S. Research in Electrical Engineering for his work on the hybridization of a transit bus from Asia. Sanj has led many projects including the ACE Formula Hybrid and has teaching and industry experience.
